Position Summary

Works with patients who have impairments, limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease or other causes. The role includes examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis and interventions toward achieving the highest functional outcomes for each patient or client.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates patients, gathering data from the patient, physician, interdisciplinary team meetings (if available), family and significant others.
• Develops treatment plans that integrate with the continuum of care and set specific goals and objectives.
• Demonstrates competency in the use, care and maintenance of profession‑specific equipment, observing safety precautions and providing verbal explanations of the equipment and its purpose.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to treat and provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned caseload.
• Re‑evaluates and modifies treatment plans and goals when appropriate.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
• Assesses patient data and interprets information needed to identify each patient’s age‑specific needs.
• Provides care as described in the unit’s, area’s and department’s policies and procedures.
• Recognizes and communicates when a patient has received optimal benefit from physical therapy.
• Adheres to State Practice Act and Standards of Practice.
• Ensures complete documentation and accurate billing.
• Provides patient and family education as indicated.
• Maintains regularly punctual attendance in line with Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree or higher from an approved program in physical therapy.
• Licensure/Certification:
  • Maintains a current Physical Therapist license in the State of Florida (temporary permit acceptable).
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
• Experience: None.
