Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health Inc. is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist in New Jersey to evaluate and treat patients, developing goal-oriented plans of care.

You will implement therapy to restore function after trauma, disease, amputation, or surgery, and collaborate with the healthcare team to optimize recovery and prevent disability.

The position requires strong communication, computer skills, and the ability to stand, move, and respond quickly in emergencies, with BLS certification expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an APTA accredited program or equivalent.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, bend and move around during a therapy session.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills with common software (MS Office/Google Suite).
• Current Physical Therapist License; BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and plan goal-oriented physical therapy treatment.
• Implement treatment plans to restore function and prevent disability after trauma or illness.
• Document progress and communicate with care teams.
• Monitor patient safety and respond to emergencies.
• Provide patient education and home exercise programs.

Position

The Physical Therapist evaluates, plans and implements a goal oriented Physical Therapy treatment program that focuses on restoring function and preventing further disability as a result of trauma, disease, amputation, congenital defects, surgery and other debilitating illness.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• Graduate of an APTA accredited program or equivalent.
• Standing, walking and/or continuously moving around
• Kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling or working in other unusual physical positions
• Climbing (including ladders, stepping stools, and/or stairs) or balancing
• Stretching and/or reaching to retrieve/replace object
• Pushing, pulling, lifting and/or carrying heavy objects (20 lbs. or more) without aid of physical devices
• Dexterity and eye-hand coordination to perform activities which involve holding, positioning, manipulating, typing (keyboarding or data entry), etc.
• Visual ability to monitor instruments and computers, distinguish characters (letters, numbers, etc.) recognize colors, observe physical characteristics, etc.
• Hearing ability to recognize sounds, sound patterns and/or other auditory stimuli
• Physical ability to react/respond quickly in emergencies, including life threatening situations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Licenses and Certifications Required

• Physical Therapist License.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers.
