Position Summary

Provides full range of physical therapy services to patients. The staff physical therapist works independently and in consultation with referring physicians, under the guidance of supervisory personnel, organizing treatments to meet established criteria, with proper documentation in patients’ medical records.

Minimum Qualifications
Education, Certification, and/or Licensure
  • Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy.
  • Current or temporary licensure in West Virginia or applicable state. Permanent licensure obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year of acute hospital experience.
Core Duties and Responsibilities

The following statements describe the general nature of work performed by individuals in this position. They are not an all-inclusive list. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides coordinated and comprehensive patient care, including assessment, expected outcomes, rehabilitation interventions, and evaluation within an interdisciplinary team approach.
  • Applies research and proven techniques to examine, diagnose, and prevent or treat conditions affecting movement and function, under supervision, through documentation review, and consultation with physicians.
  • Participates in education and training of staff, patients, and families to ensure proper care delivery.
  • Participates in the department’s Performance Improvement program, emphasizing timely, appropriate, and cost-effective services.
  • Maintains professional competence to ensure services meet national and professional standards.
  • Contributes to the work unit and department goals to support the hospital’s objectives.
  • Submits accurate charges for services via the EMR, following departmental policies.
Physical Requirements
  • Minimize manual patient lifting; utilize lift equipment and aids as indicated.
  • Work requires strength and stamina, including lifting and moving materials over 40 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
