Job summary

Cayuga Health in Ithaca, NY is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist to provide patient-centered care at Cayuga Wellness Center and surrounding locations. You will design and implement treatment plans, guide patients in therapeutic exercises, and collaborate with physicians to optimize outcomes.

The role requires completing accredited PT education, maintaining NYS licensure, and CPR certification, with preferred prior experience.

Qualifications

• Accredited physical therapy program completion (Bachelor/Master/Doctorate)
• Annual mandatory safety trainings and Healthstream courses

Responsibilities

• Assess patient goals; develop and adjust therapy plans in collaboration with physicians.
• Administer manual therapy and guide patients in exercises and use of assistive devices.
• Apply PT modalities (traction, heat/cold, ultrasound, electrical stimulation) for pain and function.
• Monitor progress and adjust treatments as needed and document outcomes.
• Complete discharge planning and design home exercise programs for ongoing care.
• Ensure continuation of therapy after discharge with caregiver instructions and home programs.
• Document care and charges in the EMR.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Identifying patient's goals and needs. Provides quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; determining physical therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
• Administers manual therapy (joint and soft tissue mobilizations, deep tissue massage); instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities, such as therapeutic exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily-living activities, and in using assistive and supportive devices, such as crutches, walkers, and orthotics to help patients accomplish their treatment goals.
• Administers physical therapy modalities such as mechanical traction, hot/cold packs, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation for pain control, neuromuscular re-education, and functional improvements;
• Evaluates effects of physical therapy treatments and fit of orthotic devices by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress; recommending adjustments and modifications.
• Completes discharge planning by consulting with the patient, family and care givers, and physicians.
• Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs; instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs; recommending and/or providing assistive equipment; recommending outpatient programs.
• Documents patient care services and charges by charting in patient's electronic medical record.

Required Skills And Experience

• Education: successful completion of accredited physical therapy program; may be Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate level program
• Must complete yearly mandatory safety in-services and/or trainings as well as yearly Healthstream e-Learning Courses
• Licensure: Current NYS Physical Therapy license
• Current CPR Certification
• Experience: Prior experience preferred

• Requires ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely and adjust to changes in work volumes.

Location and Travel Requirements

• Location: Onsite - Based out of Cayuga Wellness Center: 310 Taughannock Blvd, Ithaca, NY 14850. May be scheduled to work at other area locations including Cayuga Wellness Center, Brentwood and Cortland.
• Shift: Full-Time Days/Evenings FLEX. Weekend "on call" coverage ~3-4x/year. Shifts may vary. Anticipated schedule during clinic hours 7a-6p M-Th, 7a-4p F.
• Travel Requirements: Local Travel to Support Outpatient Therapy Needs at Various Area Locations as required based on department and patient needs.

Pay Range Disclosure

• Standard Rate of $77,209.60 to $100,006.40 per year
