A Brief Overview:Organizes and conducts Physical Therapy programs for individuals referred by a physician to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of body part. Helps patients reach maximum performance within their disabilities.
What you will do:- Evaluate and plan specific treatment programs upon the referral of a physician.
- Treat and document progress of patients in a timely fashion.
- Evaluate the extent of the disability through pertinent chart findings and objective evaluation procedures.
- Administer therapeutic exercises directly.
- Teach rehabilitation techniques to overcome disability through the use of supportive devices.
- Assist with discharge planning.
- Maintain and care for all therapeutic equipment in all patient areas.
- Instruct other health professionals, support personnel, and patients and families in proper safety and exercise programs.
- Coordinate schedule of assigned in-patients or out-patients.
- Maintain statistical reports as requested.
- Participate in in-service programs as directed by Senior Education Therapist or Director of Rehabilitation Services. Perform at minimum 1 in-service per year for the department.
- Record treatment data and progress notes in the medical records. Report on patient progress at rounds or other clinical team meetings.
- Assist in departmental marketing and educate medical and other hospital staff about services provided by physical therapy.
- Supervise affiliating students as per assignment of the Senior Education Physical Therapist.
Education Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Physical Therapy required.
Experience Qualifications:
- Experience treating patients of all ages with various disabilities and medical problems required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Capable of frequent lifting and transferring weights up to 300 pounds.
- Perform other related duties as directed by superiors.
Licenses and Certifications:
- PT - Physical Therapist licensed in New Jersey required upon hire.
- BCLS - Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association required upon hire.
