Job summary

WellSpan Health in Pennsylvania seeks a PRN physical therapist to provide entry to intermediate level services to individuals, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.

You will evaluate patients, plan individualized programs, and guide activities with supervision of PTAs and Rehab Aides, ensuring safe transfers and effective rehabilitation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in physical therapy.
• Less than 1 year of relevant experience required.
• Licensed Physical Therapist upon hire; BLS required.
• Graduate of an accredited PT program.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates patient using diagnostic and prognostic tests of muscle, nerve, joint and function.
• Plans individualized physical therapy program including exercises and modalities.
• Directs and supervises patient in various exercises and functional training.
• Provides instructions on procedures to be continued by patient.
• Coordinates PT activities with interdisciplinary team to reach goals.
• Trains medical and nursing personnel in PT techniques and objectives.
• Uses safe patient handling for transfers, lifts and positioning.
• Supervises PTAs and Rehab Aides as required.

Essential Functions

• Evaluates patient using diagnostic and prognostic muscle, nerve, joint and functional ability tests.
• Plans individualized physical therapy program for each patient including exercises, therapeutic modalities and procedures.
• Directs and supervises patient in active, active assisted, passive exercises, muscle re-education, and functional training using appropriate equipment as needed.
• Provides instructions in therapeutic procedures to be continued by the patient.
• Coordinates physical therapy activities in collaboration with the other members of the interdisciplinary team to facilitate achievement of goals established.
• Conducts or participates in training medical and nursing personnel in physical therapy techniques and objectives.
• Utilizes safe patient handling techniques for all patient transfers, lifts and positioning.
• Provides supervision of PTAs and Rehab Aides as required by PA practice act.

Common Expectations

• Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population. Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).
• Maintains patient record, as required by profession, with accurate documentation to support medical necessity and functional abilities.
• Ensures the process design of established policies/procedures, objectives, quality management, safety, environment and infection control standards are utilized consistently.
• Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
• Acts as a role model in Red Rules compliance with a focus on hand hygiene and patient identifiers.
• Collaborates with other team members to create a culture of patient centeredness and clinical excellence.
• Utilizes SBAR as a standard method of communication in all aspects of patient care.
• Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

• Bachelors Degree Required

Courses And Training

• Graduate of an accredited program in physical therapy. Upon Hire Required
