About Duke University Hospital

It features 1048 beds, 65 operating rooms, and comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic facilities, including a regional emergency/trauma center and endo-surgery center.

Position Summary

Provide physical therapy services to patients with impairments, disabilities, or health changes due to injury or disease. Offer prevention and wellness services, including screenings and health promotion. Serve as a resource for the team, participate in orientation and teaching activities, and work within North Carolina practice guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct evaluations, synthesize data, identify diagnoses, and develop care plans.
  2. Collaborate with patients and families to create and update care plans with measurable goals and discharge strategies.
  3. Integrate physical therapy into the patient's overall care considering age, environment, and individual needs.
  4. Demonstrate age-appropriate skills and follow intervention protocols, adjusting as needed.
  5. Discharge patients when appropriate, with follow-up plans if necessary.
  6. Maintain competency in evaluations and meet productivity standards.
  7. Work collaboratively with the team and utilize support personnel effectively.
  8. Assess learning needs, educate patients and caregivers, and ensure understanding of further interventions.
  9. Complete timely documentation and deliver clear oral reports.
  10. Participate in research, outreach, and educational activities, including supervising students.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or certification in physical therapy; Master's or Doctorate preferred.
  • Current North Carolina Physical Therapist license.
  • No required experience beyond education; experience preferred.
Physical Requirements

Ability to push, pull, lift, carry, and transfer patients.
