Job Overview

This is an exempt, full-time (1.0 FTE) position that reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine. The Physical Therapist adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics, Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Selects and administers appropriate physical therapy evaluations for inpatient rehabilitation.
• Develops and implements collaborative treatment plans.
• Provides education to patients, families, and caregivers.
• Participates in patient discharge planning through verbal and written communication with team members.
• Documents patient care clearly and concisely according to departmental standards.
• Supervises paraprofessionals and support staff, providing clinical guidance.
• Administers evaluations and treatments to restore function and prevent disability.
• Designs and implements treatment plans and participates in discharge and home care planning.
• Completes medical documentation timely and accurately.
• Monitors quality management indicators and participates in interdisciplinary rounds, team meetings, and departmental committees.
• Promotes organizational philosophy and objectives, including adherence to ethical standards and patient-first service.
• Supervises students within clinical education guidelines.

Qualifications

Required:

• Physical Therapy License from Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulations.
• Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (if graduated before 2002) or Master/Doctorate in Physical Therapy (if graduated after 2002).
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
