Job Summary
Provides therapy to patients based on patient need and medical direction. Provides patient/caregiver education and arranges for adaptive equipment as needed.
Essential Functions
- Performs evaluation procedures to assess the level of disability within scope of practice, goals, and treatment plans, making appropriate recommendations.
- Develops and implements treatment programs to restore and maximize patient function. Assesses treatment effectiveness and adjusts goals/methods as needed.
- Documents evaluations and treatments in compliance with department standards, legal, and reimbursement requirements.
- Instructs and trains other rehabilitation staff, nursing, medical personnel, and students regarding patient needs and services.
- Participates in process improvement, patient satisfaction initiatives, program development, and marketing activities.
- Maintains productivity standards as per department guidelines.
- Enhances skills through continuing education, competencies, and development of new patient care concepts for diverse populations.
Qualifications
- Required Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from an accredited physical therapy program.
- Preferred Master's Degree.
- 6 months relevant experience preferred.
- Licensure as a Physical Therapist in Michigan (upon hire).
- Michigan Driver's License (upon hire).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC (within 90 days of hire).
