Job summary

OrthoIndy Hospital Northwest in Indianapolis, IN seeks a part-time Physical Therapist to provide evaluative and rehabilitative services for spine and extremity cases. The role supports pre- and post-operative care per physician orders within an inpatient setting.

The candidate should hold a Master’s in Physical Therapy with licensure, prefer 1–2 years of experience, and may have a Doctoral degree. The team emphasizes patient-centered care and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements pre-operative and post-operative rehabilitation exercise protocols and therapy interventions based on physician protocol.
  • Documents all treatment procedures and patient status in EMR; communicates with physicians and nursing staff.
  • Educates patients on injury, disability, or impairment and prognosis; involves family in assistive care as needed.
  • Organizes patient treatment times and maintains a clean, stocked work area.

OrthoIndy Hospital Northwest, located in Indianapolis, Indiana,providesoutpatient care and inpatient care, with 10 operating rooms, 2procedure rooms and a 42-bed inpatient unit for patients undergoing moreinvasive procedures, such as disc replacement, spinal fusion or total hip andknee joint replacement. Other services include an urgent care,clinics, pre-op clinic, imaging and physical therapy.

General Statement of Duties:

The Physical Therapist will be providing evaluative and rehabilitative services and procedures when ordered by the attending surgeon/physician. Patient populations may include, but not be limited to, non-operative management and post-operative care to the spine and extremities.

  • Develops and implements pre-operative and post-operative rehabilitation exercise protocols and therapy interventions for individuals based upon existing Physician protocol for the operative procedure performed or non-operative management of the pathology.
  • Documents all treatment procedures and exercise, in addition to the patients’’ current status and changes in status in EMR.
    Recognizes changes in patient status and reports to the nursing staff and referring Physician. Communicates with Physicians and nursing staff regarding the clinical and functional status of the patient.
  • Communicates with patients regarding status and prognosis in rehabilitation relative to the pathology that the patient is recovering from and the rehabilitative goals set forth by the patient. Educates the patient on the injury, disability, or impairment they are recovering from.
  • Communicates with family members of patient regarding the patient’s status and needs as it relates to the patient becoming independent in adult daily living.
  • Participates in the Therapy Department quality control internal audits.
  • Responsible for organizing patient treatment times.
  • Responsible for organizing, stocking, and cleaning the work area.

Requirements:

  • Master\'s degree in Physical Therapy required; Doctoral degree or equivalent preferred
  • Physical Therapy licensure required
  • 1-2 years of experience preferred
