Job Description

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as a Physical Therapist III (Acute Pediatrics) at the Hyde Park campus.

In this role, the Physical Therapist III -performs advanced/specialized physical therapy services/procedures and consultations, primarily in area of advanced clinical competency and/or specialty certification. The PT III develops clinical programs within the area of expertise and provides training to other staff and students.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Evaluates patients utilizing advanced tests and measures and advanced clinical reasoning; to determine the physical therapy problem/level of function and the expected discharge environment, establishes a treatment plan, including home program, based upon the evaluation findings, the patient/family, the referring practitioner and therapist’s goals.
  • Within patient/client management, utilizes appropriate advanced techniques and interventions.
  • Documents patient findings, progress, procedures performed, and time required according to all department policies and external regulation requirements.
  • Treats patients with complex problems, co-morbidities and/or poor previous outcomes; consults on difficult cases for other therapists and referring practitioners.
  • Demonstrates effective time management and achieves designated productivity expectation.
  • Assists in post graduate training programs.
  • Mentors, coaches, teaches, PT I, PTII, PT III, PT students and post graduate trainees in topics /skills within area of expertise through lecture, discussion, in-service, observation, competency validation, demonstration.
  • Participates in other educational duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors, Master's or DPT degree or verification by the APTA of equivalent training in another country.
  • Current physical therapy license in the State of Illinois.
  • Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Compensation & Benefits Overview

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
