Job summary

UNC Rex Healthcare in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Physical Therapist II to join the Rex Inpatient Rehab Services in an acute care setting. This Friday–Monday weekend role supports patient care and weekend operations.

You will coordinate weekend therapy across PT/OT/SLP, manage throughput, collaborate with teammates, and deliver high-quality hands-on care. Requires five years of licensed PT experience including at least one year in acute care.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program.
• Licensed as a Physical Therapist in the state of North Carolina.
• BLS certification.
• Five (5) years of experience as a licensed Physical Therapist, including one (1) year in the specialty field.

Responsibilities

• Completes physical therapy documentation, billing, and metrics per team guidelines. Manage daily caseload with efficiency and efficacy. Meets productivity standards per team guidelines.
• Administers standard and specialized evaluations, therapeutic procedures and interpretation to assist in establishing a plan of care and manages resources to accomplish patient goals; Identifies expected patient outcomes; Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.
• Mentors assistive personnel and delegates responsibilities as per licensing board guidelines. Assists with onboarding of new staff by completing clinical orientation and competency verification.
• Develops, coordinates, and evaluates specialized programs for specific clinical service areas; engages in research and quality improvement initiatives for the clinical service team and department. Serves as an interdisciplinary liaison.
• Provides clinical education, clinical precepting and mentoring of students, residents and/or fellows, and other disciplines; participates in competency verification and evaluates the learner’s performance.
• Serves as resource to North Carolina government departments and statewide health professionals in specialty areas; Presents at local conferences; Participates in community outreach screening and educational events and career promotion efforts.
• Demonstrates leadership attributes, advocates for the profession and facilitates change, contributes to the professional development of others, promotes initiatives, and exemplifies quality service provision.

Summary

The Physical Therapist II is a clinical specialist and subject matter expert in the diagnosis and intervention management of patients with various diagnoses, disabilities, and impairments affecting multiple body regions, structures, systems, functional mobility, and activity participation. Employees in this classification provide evidence-based evaluation, consultation, and skilled treatment and instruction to patients and caregivers. The clinician participates in annual continuing education and provides departmental and organizational teaching to enhance personal and peer knowledge of evidence-based practice.
