Albany Medical Center Outpatient Physical Therapy is seeking a PER DIEM Physical Therapist. We are looking for a self-motivated therapist with an interest in treating a wide variety of patient populations. Specialty training in orthopedic or neurologic populations are encouraged but not required. Strong diagnostic and manual treatment skills are recommended.

Our large facility provides both open gym area and private treatment rooms with state-of-the-art equipment including Bioness Vector, Aquacisor, Bioness BITS, and Radial Pulse Wave units.

Position Summary:

Provide services that restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit physical disabilities. Also, promote overall fitness and health.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform essential skills addressing all systems (musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular pulmonary, integumentary, GI, and GU) throughout the patient lifespan, as per department policies.
• Examine patients’ medical histories, test and measure strength, range of motion, balance, coordination, posture, muscle performance, respiration, and motor function.
• Apply diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Interpret, plan, establish, and implement treatments.
• Educate patients, families, and others on treatment procedures and supportive activities.
• Develop treatment plans with clear objectives and expected outcomes.
• Analyze reports and data for unit operations.
• Complete and maintain documentation for accountability.
• Follow safe work practices.
• Participate in staff meetings, workshops, conferences, and committees.

Qualifications:

• Must hold a current New York State registration and CPR certification.
• One year of outpatient physical therapy experience preferred but not required; new graduates are welcome.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficiency in basic mathematics and data interpretation.
• Professional integrity, punctuality, and adherence to ethical standards.
• Ability to evaluate, plan, and execute treatment based on assessments.
• Ability to use modalities related to electromagnetic and acoustic spectra.
• Record-keeping accuracy and good judgment.
• Ability to instruct and share knowledge internally and externally.
• Ability to work cooperatively and resolve conflicts.
• Adherence to policies and problem-solving procedures.
• Ability to evaluate, monitor, and manage financial aspects of clinical operations.

Physical Demands:

Regular standing, walking, handling objects, reaching, speaking, and hearing. Lifting patients and heavy equipment up to 100 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Work Environment:

Moderate noise levels, possible exposure to infectious materials and chemicals, primarily on-site work required.
