Position Overview
We are currently seeking a casual Physical Therapist I to join our Outpatient team. This role involves working 2-4 weekday shifts per month, with flexibility for half or full days, and additional hours as needed to cover PTO or leave of absences. The position requires willingness to travel to one of our community clinics: Whittier, Richfield, or Brooklyn Park.
Purpose
In collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, provides therapeutic services including evaluation, treatment, discharge planning, and education.
Responsibilities
- Performs and documents comprehensive physical therapy evaluations.
- Develops and documents patient care plans to promote optimal function and safety.
- Observes, evaluates, and documents patient's progress.
- Participates in hospital rounds and patient care conferences.
- Educates patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques, cares, and treatments.
- Completes all documentation and charges of services per departmental standards.
- Directs and supervises activities performed by Rehab aides, including patient transfers, transport, preparation, selected treatment procedures, clerical duties, and departmental maintenance.
- Supervises physical therapy interventions performed by assistants.
- Properly applies and operates rehabilitative equipment.
- Assists with developing and conducting physical therapy in-services for staff.
- Mentors newly assigned staff.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of physical therapy.
- Up to 2 full-time years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous clinical experience in rehabilitation, acute, or trauma settings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of policies, procedures, practice standards, and physical therapy techniques and treatment.
- Ability to perform professional physical therapy techniques and operate equipment.
- Ability to provide work direction and counsel patients and families.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret written instructions, patient charts, and physician notes.
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid Physical Therapy license or temporary license issued by the Minnesota State Board of Physical Therapy.
