Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System Towson Sports Medicine (TSM) is a premier outpatient orthopedic therapy provider dedicated to high-quality patient care in a collaborative environment.

Our team delivers physical therapy services through patient evaluations, goal setting, and individualized treatment plans to improve movement and prevent injury. BLS and MD licensure are required for this role.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree required.
  • Licensed Physical Therapist in Maryland.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Performs physical therapy services to patients following standards and department policies.
  • Conducts patient assessments and develops individualized treatment plans to improve movement and manage pain.
  • Records evaluations, re-evaluations and care in the medical record per documentation standards.
  • Communicates results and treatment plans to patients, families and the care team.
  • Provides therapy education and counseling to individuals.
  • Mentors and trains clinical team members and students as needed.
  • Delivers patient-centered care and excellent customer service.
  • Reports and helps resolve clinical and operational issues to ensure high-quality care.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education

Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree accepted if licensed prior to 2016

Job description

As a member of the University of Maryland Medical System Towson Sports Medicine (TSM) is a premier provider of outpatient therapy services. TSM is a highly reputable Outpatient Orthopedic therapy provider with strong ties to the community.

Our physical therapists focus on providing high quality patient-oriented care in a great working environment. We have highly experienced staff with low turnover and work in close contact with some of the best orthopedic doctors in the state.

Delivers physical therapy services through the evaluation of patient needs, goal determination, and development of treatment plans according to the principles and practices of physical therapy.

Primary Responsibilities

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job responsibilities performed.

  • Performs physical therapy services to patients in accordance with generally accepted standards, Maryland Department of Health Board of Physical Therapy Examiners, code of ethics, and departmental and/or organizational policies and procedures.
  • Performs patient assessments and develops individualized treatment plan programs for clients/patients to improve movement, manage pain, and/or prevent injury. Develops and maintains long- and short-term treatment objectives and re-evaluates and modifies treatment programs as necessary.
  • Records patient evaluations, re-evaluations and care provided in the medical record, in accordance with departmental documentation standards.
  • Informs patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members of evaluation results and plan for treatment and refers for further evaluation.
  • Plans and provides therapy education and counseling to individuals.
  • Provides mentorship and training to clinical team members and/or students as eligible based on departmental needs.
  • Demonstrates interdisciplinary, safe, patient-centered care and delivers excellent customer service.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and suggests areas for improvement to colleagues in a tactful and considerate manner. Proposes performance improvement topics and alternate treatment techniques to improve therapy services.
  • Reports clinical and operational issues to departmental leadership and assists in their resolution to assure high quality care and efficient departmental operations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience - Required
  • Education: Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree required. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree accepted if licensed prior to 2016 (per previous licensing requirement).
  • Experience: None.
  • Licensure/Certifications:
  • Licensed Physical Therapist in the state of Maryland.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
