Job summary

UNC Health Nash invites qualified Physical Therapists to join our inpatient therapy team on a per diem basis. The role focuses on organizing and conducting medically prescribed physical therapy programs to restore function and prevent disability after disease or injury, while helping patients maximize independence.

Responsibilities include diagnostic testing, teaching graduate students, evaluating care, applying advanced rehabilitation techniques, and engaging in outreach and quality improvement

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program.
  • Bachelor's degree in physical therapy.
  • Current license to practice as a Physical Therapist in North Carolina.
  • New Graduate or up to 3 years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Administers diagnostic tests and evaluations for mobility-related impairments.
  • Teach and supervise graduate Physical Therapy students and residents; contribute to innovative programs.
  • Analyze test results to set patient goals and adjust treatment plans.
  • Apply current techniques to provide rehabilitative services and maintain patient progress.
  • Serve as a resource to government departments and health professionals; participate in community health events.
  • Attend departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records of procedures and progress; participate in quality initiatives.

Summary

The Physical Therapist organizes and conducts medically prescribed physical therapy programs with the goal being to restore function. The Physical Therapist attempts to prevent disability following disease/injury, while helping the patient reach his/her maximum performance while learning to live with the limits of his/her capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnostic Testing - Administers basic & complex diagnostic tests and evaluations in the area of Physical Therapy for the treatment of mobility disorders and related impairments
  • Education - Teach & supervise graduate Physical Therapy students and/or clinical fellows/residents. Develops or contributes to innovative programs to enhance patient care. Serves as resource consultant to other clinicians in respective specialty area.
  • Evaluation of Care - Analyzes results of diagnostic or therapeutic testing to establish patient goals and or modify subsequent treatment programs. Identifies expected patient outcomes. Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.
  • Implementation-- Selects and applies current and advanced techniques to provide quality and efficient rehabilitative services. Provides habilitation/rehabilitation and maintenance of persons with mobility related impairments. Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient/family needs.
  • Outreach/Community Involvement-Serves as resource to North Carolina government departments and statewide health professionals in specialty areas. Presents at local (university/hospital) or state level, participates in community health screening and events. Participates in the development of new clinical programs to meet emerging needs in conjunction with the clinical specialist and/or department director.
  • Participation - Contributes to quality of clinical services through attendance and participation in departmental meetings and in-services.
  • Quality-Contributes to quality of clinical services through maintenance of valid & reliable records of patient procedures & progress. Participates in quality improvement initiatives with the clinical specialist and other healthcare professionals. Participates in continuous quality improvement efforts in conjunction with the department director.

Education Requirements:

Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program.

Bachelor's degree in physical therapy.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

Current license to practice as a Physical Therapist in North Carolina.

Professional Experience Requirements

Successful completion of supervised clinical internship.

New Graduate or up to 3 years of experience.
