Job Details

Job Summary

Responsible for evaluating and treating musculoskeletal, vascular, and neurological diagnoses, with treatment tailored to each patient. Provides education and preventative care to patients, families, hospital staff, and the community. Acts as a liaison between patients, families, physicians, nursing staff, and Social Services to ensure effective delivery and coordination of physical therapy services.

Essential Responsibilities
  1. Provide high-quality patient care using clinical skills and common sense, considering patient age and diagnosis. Includes evaluation, treatment planning, patient/family education, safety procedures, and communication with relevant parties. Treat patients across all age groups from pediatric to geriatric.
  2. Operate patient care equipment such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation units, traction devices, exercise and wound care equipment, and hospital beds.
  3. Guide patients in the use of assistive devices, braces, orthotics, prosthetics, and exercise equipment.
  4. Assist patients with mobility, strengthening exercises, gait training, and activities of daily living.
  5. Adapt physiotherapeutic techniques for patients who cannot comprehend verbal commands or perform exercises voluntarily.
  6. Document patient care according to HFAP standards and departmental policies.
  7. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer reviews, and ensure excellent patient and customer relations, including telephone etiquette.
  8. Communicate effectively with departmental and interdepartmental staff regarding patient care and customer relations.
  9. Supervise activities of aides, students, and volunteers.
  10. Assist with departmental functions as directed by the Department Director.
  11. Contribute to staff education and pursue ongoing professional development.
Qualifications

Education & Experience: Graduation from an accredited Physical, Occupational, or Speech Therapy program; minimum Bachelor of Science degree; ongoing continuing education in relevant areas; active participation in professional associations.

Licensure & Certifications: Licensure or eligibility for licensure in Indiana; CPR certification.

Work Schedule

Shift: 1st Shift (Monday to Friday, Days)

Hours: 40 hours per week
