We are looking for an energetic Physical Therapist to join our team full-time in Fayette, Alabama.
Settings: Acute, Outpatient, and SNF
Location: Fayette Medical Center
The Staff Physical Therapist shall be responsible for providing quality physical therapy services and assisting in departmental operation.
Performance Requirements:
- Responsible for: Organizing and rendering physical therapy services.
- Physical Demands: Work involves medium physical activity, including lifting and carrying equipment, supplies, and materials up to 50 pounds independently, and over 50 pounds with assistance. Tasks include stooping, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, feeling, manipulating equipment, and patient positioning. Communication involves talking and hearing, with visual acuity for reading instructions and assessing reactions. Work is performed indoors.
- Special Demands: Demonstrates necessary manual skills and knowledge for quality patient care, with a preference for working with people and motivating them. Must have strong oral and written communication skills, knowledge of medical terminology, and the ability to prepare reports. Familiarity with statistics, record-keeping, basic management concepts, problem-solving skills, supervision, self-evaluation, and professional dedication are essential.
Qualifications:
- Education: B.S. degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Experience: One year preferred; recent graduates encouraged to apply. COVID vaccination is preferred but exemptions are considered.
- Registered: Must be licensed by the Alabama State Board of Physical Therapy.
Work Performed:
- Authority: Authorized to perform physical therapy procedures as prescribed by a medical doctor or dentist.
- Primary Duties:
- Evaluate referred patients to determine their physical and functional status and potential benefits from therapy.
- Plan and conduct therapy programs including exercises, massage, thermal agents, water, light, and electricity.
- Perform diagnostic and prognostic tests on muscles, nerves, joints, and functional abilities.
- Assist patients with exercises, muscle re-education, gait, and functional training using various equipment.
- Use therapeutic equipment such as muscle and nerve stimulators, ultrasound, etc.
- Administer whirlpool, contrast baths, and apply heat/cold packs.
- Instruct patients on use of mobility and orthopedic devices.
- Adapt therapy techniques for patients with special needs.
- Observe, record, and report patient responses and conditions.
- Supervise supportive personnel and train technicians and assistants.
- Maintain a safe and clean department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
