Assesses, plans, organizes, and administers rehabilitative programs that improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and improve or correct disabling conditions resulting from disease or injury.

VMRC Therapy team has recently transitioned from a contracted team to in-house. We are currently seeking PRN DISCIPLINE to help complete our therapy team. As a vital team member, you will have the opportunity to support residents in meeting their therapy goals and improving their quality of life.

Job Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited therapy program
  • Experience: 2-3 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred).
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current Physical Therapist state license; CPR certification

Requirements:

  • Restores patient’s function, alleviates pain, and prevents disabilities by planning and administering medically prescribed physical therapy.
  • Provides quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results.
  • Develops a Plan of Treatment for each patient based on initial and ongoing evaluations, including short- and long-term goals, collaboration demands of other staff members, and patient and caregiver involvement.
  • Determines physical therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
  • Implements the Plan of Treatment on a consistent schedule and adjusts it according to patients' progress.
  • Helps patients accomplish their treatment plans by administering manual exercises, massages, and using equipment as necessary.
  • Evaluates mobility, strength, and current level of patient function, setting realistic goals for improvement.
  • Evaluates and records patients' progress, modifying treatment plans and trying new treatments if required.
  • Evaluates the use and fit of prosthetic and orthotic devices, noting patient progress, and recommending adjustments.
  • Documents patient care services according to medical and facility documentation procedures.
  • Reports patient progress to patients, caregivers, facility staff, and healthcare professionals involved in ongoing treatment.
  • Develops a plan for patients after completion of their Plan of Treatment, including in-home care services.
