Job description

Join to apply for the Physical Therapist- Flex Staff role at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Evaluating patients' physical and functional status, including muscular strength, motor functions, reflexes, ambulation skills, and activities of daily living.
  2. Conducting interviews, reviewing medical histories, and administering various evaluation tests.
  3. Determining treatment suitability and administering physical therapy modalities such as whirlpool, ultrasounds, massage, biofeedback, paraffin, prosthetics, and orthotics.
  4. Assessing and managing patient pain levels, providing education, and collaborating with physicians and pain specialists.
  5. Establishing therapy goals and developing treatment plans involving exercises, modalities, balance activities, and gait training.
  6. Communicating with patients and families about evaluation results, goals, and treatment, and instructing them on exercises and equipment use.
  7. Participating in discharge planning and developing in-home programs.
  8. Documenting evaluations and progress for medical records and insurance purposes.
  9. Determining and ordering assistive devices such as wheelchairs, canes, crutches, and prosthetic/orthopedic devices.
  10. Potentially teaching and supervising students and participating in research projects.
  11. Performing other duties in the best interest of Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.
