Job Summary: The Physical Therapist at East Campus will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a comprehensive and advanced physical therapy program. This includes performing patient evaluations, goal setting, integrative treatment planning, follow-up assessments, and ongoing patient and family education. The therapist provides care according to Physical Therapy, Medical Center policies and procedures, and adheres to discipline-specific practice acts. The role involves providing outpatient services under physician's orders, fostering a constructive and supportive department environment, and promoting professional relationships. The therapist should understand economic constraints and practice resource conservation. Supervision of Physical Therapy Assistants and Rehabilitation Technicians is required when indicated. There are opportunities to participate in and initiate clinical research trials related to physical therapy and patient outcomes. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Education and Experience: A Master's Degree in Physical Therapy is required. A suitable combination of education, training, or experience along with a California license in Physical Therapy is acceptable. No prior experience is necessary.
Knowledge and Skills: Ability to operate required equipment and assessment tools independently, including HME equipment, copy and fax machines, and other office technology. Proficiency in reading, writing legibly, and speaking English (Spanish preferred) professionally. Competence in using computer software relevant to the role, troubleshooting, and calibrating patient care equipment. Effective communication skills, assertiveness, professionalism, and the ability to work calmly under pressure are essential. The candidate should be able to lead, supervise, teach, collaborate, and accept direction. Critical thinking, independence, basic math skills, multitasking, organization, attention to detail, and sensory abilities (visual, auditory, tactile) are required for safe and effective patient care.
Licensures and Certifications: Current licensure by the California Board of Physical Therapy, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and CCS paneling if assigned to Pediatric Rehabilitation or to fulfill CCS requirements within twelve months of hire. A valid driver's license is required at the time of hire.
