JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Serves as the coordinator of educational activities in a physical therapy laboratory classroom environment in the Department of Rehab Medicine, Division of Physical Therapy (DPT).
  • Responsibilities include functioning as a laboratory classroom assistant which includes giving feedback in lab and assisting with practical exams, organization and grading of practical examinations, maintaining equipment and supplies, coordinating schedules of lab personnel (clinicians, teaching assistants, etc), and other duties as determined by faculty for clinical science courses in the Emory Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
  • Practice opportunities may also be available within Emory Healthcare facilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from a physical therapy school accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). Licensure as a Physical Therapist in the state of Georgia.
  • One year of experience required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a breadth of clinical experience, including inpatient and outpatient environments and across practice areas (orthopedics, neurology, cardiovascular & pulmonary, etc).

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES:

The lab coordinator is a physical therapist staff member responsible for a variety of tasks related to the operations of our clinical teaching laboratories. These include, but are not limited to:

•Coordinating adjunct clinician lab staffing, maintaining and procuring equipment and supplies, creating semester lab schedules, supervising student preceptors and graduate assistants, and ensuring the environmental safety of the DPT clinical teaching laboratory spaces in the 1462 and 1441 Clifton Road buildings.

•The DPT program is comprised of 3 cohorts of 65 students, and the lab coordinator manages these spaces across the 9 semesters of the program for both core clinical courses and electives.

•Additionally, they assist with teaching in the laboratory and contributes to the mandatory faculty/clinical staff to student ratio in the lab, as well as provides consistency for the students and faculty across the curriculum.

•They also participate in the preparation and planning of open lab sessions, practical exams, and skills checks for multiple courses. Eight hours per week will be spent as a research assistant for Division research faculty.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
