Summary
Plans, organizes, and delivers physical therapy programs to help clients/patients/residents recover and improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and prevent deformities. Conducts examinations, evaluations, and interventions for clients/patients/residents affected by injury or disease.
Utilizes tools and techniques to administer physical therapy interventions following safeguards. Documents client/patient/resident information for evaluation; establishes and modifies therapeutic plans as necessary. Educates clients/patients/residents and their families about treatment plans, schedules, and self-exercises for continued care at home. Applies age-appropriate treatments and evaluations based on client needs, incorporating current research into daily practice. May treat individuals of all ages with varying diagnoses and disorders.
Ensures documentation aligns with departmental guidelines and regulatory requirements. Demonstrates treatment levels appropriate to their specialty. Follows accepted clinical practice guidelines of professional organizations. Exhibits flexibility with variable work schedules and assignments. Participates in departmental and organizational activities to promote Sanford Health and the Good Samaritan Society.
Interacts with external entities such as providers, case managers, third-party payers, and community organizations. May supervise assistants, aides, and students, providing ongoing education and training. Performs other duties as assigned. Depending on facility needs, may focus on post-acute, long-term care, or home health environments.
Requires appropriate education level per state licensure. Must be licensed as a Physical Therapist in the state(s) of practice. May require a valid driver’s license. Must obtain and maintain department-specific competencies and certifications, including Basic Life Support (BLS) within the first 60 days of employment.
