The IRP–Allied Health team consists of licensed or certified professionals who work within a team structure to offer inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation services to patients with orthopedic, neurological, general medical, vascular, or musculoskeletal conditions. The physical therapist (PT) reports to the director of rehabilitation services.
The physical therapist is part of a multidisciplinary team effort to provide appropriate care. Upon referral, the PT will assess patients and establish plans of care in collaboration with the patient and other team members; provide a wide variety of treatment techniques within the scope of practice; give education and support to patients and families; and facilitate continuing care planning. The PT ensures coordination of services with other therapists, rehab staff, physicians, nurses, and Patient Care Resource Managers.
