Job summary

Cleveland Clinic’s Home Care and Hospice network seeks a dedicated Physical Therapy Assistant to administer patient-centered therapy across home visits in the Greater Cleveland area. You will support skilled rehabilitation under a licensed Physical Therapist, observe patient progress, and document responses.

This full-time role requires an Associate’s or PTA program degree, current PTA licensure, BLS, and a valid driver’s license with insurance coverage for Homecare visits.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or certificate in physical therapy assistant.
• Graduate of PTA program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association.
• Current state licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Valid driver's license with proof of adequate auto insurance for homecare.

Responsibilities

Cleveland Clinic’s Business Operations Center serves as a key hub for our Home Care and Hospice operations as well as many administrative and support teams. This collaborative workplace supports a wide range of caregivers, clinical professionals, and operational teams. While many positions are based within the center, numerous home-visiting roles—including case managers, nurses, and therapists—travel throughout the Greater Cleveland and Akron/Canton areas to deliver exceptional care directly to patients in their homes.

As a Physical Therapy Assistant, you support this mission by applying a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for the rehabilitation of functional limitations, impairments and disorders. This role is critical in ensuring patients feel at their best, empowering them to take control of their treatment. This role will provide coverage to patients residing west of I-77 – western Cleveland towards Tremont and south to Brooklyn.

A caregiver in this position works 8:00am to 5:00pm with weekend rotations 10 or 11 Saturday per year. 1 summer holiday is required.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Administer patient centered Physical Therapy treatment incorporating evidence-based practice and skilled techniques to achieve optimal functional outcomes under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
• Observe, communicate and document patient progress and response to treatment.
• Plan, organize and implement individualized therapeutic programs with patient/family, incorporating evidence-based practice.
• Provide education on Physical Therapy related subjects to patients, clients, caregivers, hospital personnel and the community.
• Act as a clinical instructor or participate in the education and evaluation of students.
• Act as a resource for volunteers and observers.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Associate's Degree or certificate
• Graduate of a Physical Therapy Assistant Program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association
• Current state licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Valid Driver’s License (VDL) with proof of $100,000/$300,000 coverage insurance coverage for Homecare

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Experience in a clinical area

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to walk and climb stairs without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling.
• Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor.
• Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program.
• Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse.
• Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements and to read all patient monitors.
• Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families.
• Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $22.85

Maximum hourly: $34.85
