The Role:
Promotes and maintains health by providing physical therapy and rehabilitation services under the supervision of a physical therapist. Contributes to a physical therapist's effectiveness by interviewing patients, performing physical examinations, assessing patient health, identifying patient care issues, and administering appropriate treatment programs. This is a value-based care model with low patient volume. The position is well-supported, partnering with Physical Therapists, Primary Care physicians, and other clinical staff in a collaborative care environment.
This is an immediate full-time opportunity to provide care to retired San Antonio First Responders at our state-of-the-art health and wellness center. The schedule is Monday - Friday, with shifts from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm and 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Currently, the clinic operates only Monday through Friday, with potential expansion to include rotating Saturdays in the future. What You'll Do:
  • Provide direct patient care for patients referred to physical therapy.
  • Evaluate abnormal conditions by reviewing physical therapist’s interpretations of patient evaluations and test results.
  • Document patient care services by charting patients and records.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures, administer exercises, and instruct patients in physical activities.
  • Assist patients with supportive devices such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
  • Instruct and counsel patients on therapeutic regimens and wellness strategies.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following procedures, rules, regulations, and infection-control policies.
  • Monitor treatment trends and ensure services meet production objectives.
  • Participate in educational opportunities, read relevant materials, and engage in professional organizations to maintain current knowledge.
  • Assist with review of referrals and scheduling of patients.
