Job summary

MUSC Health Florence Medical Center is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant I/II in acute care to support inpatient and outpatient services. The PTA works under a PT to implement individualized programs for patients across all ages, from infants to geriatrics, with diverse diagnoses.

Applicants must graduate from an accredited PTA program and hold SC licensure, with current BLS. This PRN, hourly position participates in a broad rehab team across MUSC Health Florence facilities.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited PTA program.
• Licensure as a PTA in SC.
• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Implement a physical therapy program for individuals based on age-specific needs under supervision.
• Supervise PTA students and provide clinical education experiences.
• Provide patient-focused care across neurologic, orthopedic, post-surgical, pediatric, medically complex and in- or out-patient settings.

Job Description

The Physical Therapist Assistant I report to the Physical Therapist. The Physical Therapist Assistant II provides optimal patient care by implementing a physical therapy program to individuals based upon age-specific needs utilizing a developmental and patient/family directed approach. Under the general supervision of a Physical Therapist I, II, or III, functions as a staff physical therapist assistant. Supervises PTA students and provides clinical education experiences.
Patient populations served: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric for a variety of diagnosis to include but not limited to neurologic, orthopedic, post-surgical, pediatric, medically complex, inpatient or outpatient throughout the hospital system.

Education: Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.

Experience: None.

Certification/Licensure: Licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant by the South Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
