Job Position: Physical Therapy Assistant for an In-house Skilled Nursing Facility

Job Type: PRN

Job Purpose: To assist in planning, organizing, developing, and directing Physical Therapy services in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, and as may be directed by the Administrator, to ensure the highest quality of resident care.

Job Functions:

  • Provide physical therapy services to residents under the direct supervision of the Physical Therapist.
  • Conduct screenings of residents at regular intervals to determine the need for intervention/treatment.
  • Identify indications for evaluations at appropriate intervals and assist in the evaluation under the direction of the Physical Therapist.
  • Assist the Physical Therapist in identifying a target list, including short-term and long-term goals and treatment plans.
  • Conduct individual and group treatments as assigned, focusing on areas such as muscle strength, mobility, balance, gait, and range of motion.
  • Assist in selecting appropriate physical therapy techniques/media and adapt activities based on resident performance in consultation with the Physical Therapist.
  • Monitor residents' responses to interventions and consult with the Physical Therapist for modifications as needed.
  • Assist in establishing and modifying resident schedules in collaboration with the Physical Therapist and team members.
  • Adhere to department and resident schedules, modifying as necessary for treatment regimens.
  • Train residents, families, and staff in the use of equipment.
  • Participate in resident, family, and staff education programs.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in evaluating, planning, implementing, and following up on therapy programs.
  • Report to work punctually and coordinate schedules for maximum productivity.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance programs as required.
  • Complete compliant and medically necessary documentation according to CMS expectations in NetHealth EMR systems.

Education & Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Maintain active Physical Therapy Assistant license in state(s) of practice.
  • Engage in ongoing continuing education and professional development to stay current with licensure requirements.
