Job description

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Full-Time (Healthcare)

Treat patients as directed by the Physical Therapist. Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes per PT Board regulations. Assist in maintaining the department and participate in Patient Care and Rehabilitation Conferences as needed. Help with cleaning and maintenance of the treatment area. Follow physician treatment plans when treating patients. Assist the nursing department with training Restorative Aides. Communicate with supervisors and other healthcare team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans. Participate in in-service training programs for staff. Record treatment changes according to policies and procedures. Instruct patients’ families or nursing staff in maintenance programs and caregiver training in preparation for discharge from therapy services. Report any equipment issues to ensure proper maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant by the State Board.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including data entry into programs such as Casamba and PointClick Care.
  • Ability to read and understand technical procedures, policies, and manuals.
  • Effective communication skills to present information and respond to questions from managers, coworkers, and families.
  • Mathematical skills including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to interpret various instructions.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent standing and walking; occasional sitting.
  • Frequent reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Frequent talking and hearing; frequent tasting and smelling.
  • Ability to exert significant force occasionally and frequently to move objects.
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Visual acuity for close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
