We're looking for a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our dynamic rehab team in a hospital-based outpatient setting located inside the state-of-the-art HealthPlex gym in Victoria, Texas. New grads welcome!

You Role:

  • Primary focus in our outpatient facility
  • Required to rotate one weekend per month for hospital coverage

Job Summary

Responsible for fulfilling a treatment plan and administering physical agents/modalities as established by the physical therapist. Assists with restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of function, while instructing patients of ADL’s within those capabilities. Participates in the operational aspects of the department, maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in Performance Improvement activities. Participates in all Hospital–Wide and departmental mandatory education programs. Maintains working knowledge of hospital and department policies and procedures. Places emphasis on patient care in respect to timeliness, effectiveness, attitude, and patient rights.

Job Specific:

1.Responsible for providing treatment as directed by the staff physical therapist. Adheres to standards of physical therapy practice. (EF)

2.Ability to observe and evaluate treatment effect and recommend changes to the physical therapist as needed. (EF)

3.Ability to perform an appropriate treatment on all patients as related to the treatment plan. This includes neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient population. (EF)

4.Assists with the formulation of a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs, home needs, and records effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate, with the physical therapist being apprised of the conclusion. (EF)

5.Demonstrates knowledge of physical therapy modalities.

6.Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients. (EF)

7.Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Maintains department cleanliness and safety.

8.Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the information of the plan of care. (EF)

9.Communicates appropriately and clearly, to licensed practitioner, physical therapist, staff and administration team. (EF)

10.Coordinates and directs patient care to ensure patients’ needs are met and hospital policy is followed.

11.Maintains records pertinent to personnel and operation of the department. (EF)

12.Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations. (EF)

13.Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and other departments. (EF)

14.Consults other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.

15.Documentation meets current standards and policies. (EF)

16.Will also obtain two (2) hours of initial Stroke education and then one (1) hour of annual education specifically related to Rehabilitation in the following years. (EF)

Required: Meet educational and training requirements set forth by the Texas State Board of Physical TherapyExaminers.

EXPERIENCE

Preferred: Prefer over one year up to and including two years re-training through in-hospital and out-of-hospital courses, etc.. Exposure to acute ortho., neuro., skilled nursing patients, out-patients, and woundcare.

Special Skills and Abilities:

Required: Maintain professional skills as required by Citizens Medical Center and professional regulatoryBoard.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Required: Licensed by the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners and BCLS certification required.
