Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, you are responsible for following all state-specific laws governing physical therapy in home care, adhering to the treatment plan set by the Physical Therapist, performing only procedures you are qualified and trained for, and making recommendations for changes in the plan of care to the supervising PT.

Following the plan of care, instruct and aid patients in evidence-based treatment within the scope of the physical therapy assistant and according to state laws.

Observe, record, and report to the supervising PT, nurse supervisor, and/or physician the patient's response to treatment and any changes in the patient's condition. Coordinate care with other healthcare team members as appropriate.

Instruct patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare team members in therapy areas within the scope of the physical therapy assistant.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

  • Current license, registration, or certification to assist in physical therapy practice in Arizona.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle.
  • At least 2,000 hours of experience under onsite supervision post-certification before working in home health.
