Job summary

Avant Rehabilitation & Care Center in Trenton, NJ is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA). You will implement treatment plans, assist residents with therapeutic exercises, and monitor progress under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.

The role emphasizes safety, compassionate care, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. Requirements include graduation from an accredited PTA program and current New Jersey PTA licensure.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Current New Jersey PTA license.
• Experience in skilled nursing facility or long-term care preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement individualized treatment plans designed by the Physical Therapist.
• Assist residents in exercises and therapeutic activities to improve mobility, strength, and coordination.
• Monitor and document residents' progress and report changes to the Physical Therapist.
• Educate residents and families on rehabilitation techniques and exercises.
• Ensure safety and comfort during therapy sessions and foster a positive environment.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other therapists for comprehensive care.
• Maintain accurate records in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Adhere to facility policies and guidelines to ensure high-quality care.

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Duties & Responsibilities

• Implement individualized treatment plans designed by the Physical Therapist.
• Assist residents in exercises and therapeutic activities aimed at improving their mobility, strength, and coordination.
• Monitor and document residents’ progress, reporting any changes or concerns to the Physical Therapist.
• Provide education to residents and their families on techniques and exercises to support rehabilitation.
• Ensure safety and comfort during therapy sessions, maintaining a positive and encouraging environment.

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Qualifications & Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in New Jersey.
• Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care setting is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations.
