Job summary

Boost Home Healthcare in Florida is seeking a qualified Physical Therapist Assistant to deliver physical therapy in patients' homes under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. You will help patients improve mobility, strength, balance, and independence, following the established plan of care and Medicare guidelines.

The ideal candidate will have CAPTE-accredited PTA education, an active PTA license in Florida, current CPR, and excellent communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program approved by CAPTE.
  • Current PTA license in the state of practice.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Minimum two years in home health strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and patient education skills.
  • Ability to work independently with supervision from a Physical Therapist.

Responsibilities

  • Provide physical therapy treatments as delegated by the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Assist patients in improving mobility, strength, balance, endurance, and functional independence.
  • Implement exercises, gait training, transfer training, balance activities per plan of care.
  • Observe, document, and report patient responses to the supervising PT.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and safety techniques.
  • Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary communication.
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation per agency and Medicare guidelines.

A Physical Therapist Assistant - PTA provides physical therapy services to patients on an intermittent basis in their place of residence. Services are provided under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist and in accordance with physician orders, the established plan of care, and applicable state and federal regulations.

What you'll be doing
  • Provide physical therapy treatments as delegated by the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Assist patients in improving mobility, strength, balance, endurance, and functional independence.
  • Implement therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfer training, balance activities, and other interventions outlined in the plan of care.
  • Observe, document, and report patient responses and progress to the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and safety techniques as directed by the Physical Therapist.
  • Participate with all other home healthcare personnel in patient care planning and interdisciplinary communication.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with agency policies and Medicare guidelines.

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
  • Current Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in the state in which practicing.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Two (2) years of experience preferred in a home health setting.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with Medicare home health documentation requirements.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and patient education skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the supervising Physical Therapist and interdisciplinary team.
