Responsibilities

The Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA, LPTA) performs treatment, provides exercise instruction, and educates patients to improve their well-being, following the established plan of care.

• Follow all state-specific laws governing physical therapy in home care. Perform only procedures you're qualified and trained for, as defined by the supervising PT. Make recommendations for changes in the plan of care to the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Instruct and assist patients in active/passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait, functional activities, ADL, transfers, safety, and prosthetic training.
• Observe, record, and report patient responses to treatment and any changes in condition to the supervising PT, nurse, or physician. Coordinate care with the healthcare team as appropriate.
• Educate patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members within the scope of the physical therapy assistant.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

• Current license, registration, or certification to assist in physical therapy practice in the state of practice.
• Current CPR certification is required.
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
