Overview
Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) role at Recover-Care Healthcare. The Physical Therapist Assistant will help Physical Therapists provide physical therapy treatments and procedures.
In accordance with state laws, the PTA may assist in development of treatment plans, carry out routine functions, document progress, and modify treatments within the scope of treatment plans established by a physical therapist.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Instruct, motivate, safeguard, and assist patients as they practice exercises or functional activities.
- Observe patients during treatments to collect data on responses and progress and provide results to the physical therapist in person or through progress notes.
- Confer with physical therapy staff and others to discuss and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment. Communicate with and instruct caregivers and family members on treatment plans.
- Transport patients to and from treatment areas, assist with positioning and securing patients onto therapy equipment.
- Administer active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, aquatic physical therapy, and modality treatments such as ultrasound.
- Measure range of motion, body part measurements, and vital signs to determine effects of treatments or for patient evaluations.
- Monitor operation of equipment and record use and administration of treatment in a timely manner.
- Assist patients with fitting orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices.

Education and Experience
- Associates degree from an accredited physical therapy program
- Current license from the state Board of Physical Therapy Examiners
- Proficiency with applicable state, federal, and professional standards
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking
- Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and transferring patients
- Frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching
