In collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, provides therapeutic services as part of the rehabilitation process, under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
Essential Functions
- Patient Care
- Provides appropriate and comprehensive treatments in accordance with established departmental and discipline-specific standards of care and practice, and within insurance parameters as required.
- Implements patient care using evidence-based practice.
- Practices within the legal boundaries of Massachusetts license and other professional and governmental agencies.
- Directs other licensed and non-licensed personnel as required, such as Rehab aides and volunteers, delegating duties appropriately.
- Follows infection control standards.
- Maintains patient safety practices during all patient care instances.
- Implements treatment interventions based on established goals and care plans.
- Provides patient education and home exercise programs as necessary.
- Interacts with patients and families compassionately, demonstrating confidence, empathy, sensitivity, and patience.
- Supports South Shore Health’s mission, vision, and values.
- Adheres to policies and procedures.
- Documentation/Billing
- Completes all documentation and charge entries per department standards.
- Writes clear, complete documentation reflecting current patient status and needs.
- Ensures documentation timeliness, accuracy, and completeness.
- Accurately performs charge capture, including entry, modifiers, corrections, and group treatments.
- Provides accurate handoffs.

Job Requirements
- Minimum Education: Associate’s degree from an accredited physical therapy assistant program.
- Minimum Work Experience: One year clinical experience preferred; rehab experience desirable.
- Licenses/Registrations: Valid PTA license to practice in Massachusetts.
- Skills: BLS certification required.

- Work hours: M-F, 40 hrs, with 1 weekend day every 4 weeks and 1 holiday per year.
