Physical Therapy AssistantPRNBG Therapy

Bishop Gadsden Episcopal Retirement Community, James Island, SC, has a health and rehab center that will elevate how health care is delivered and experienced!

Join us in that vision as a Physical Therapy Assistant on a PRN status!

Bishop Gadsden located on James Island, is a not-for-profit, faith-based retirement community, affiliated with the Episcopal Church. Bishop Gadsden is known as the Southeast's leading life care retirement community and is located on 134 acres of lush marshlands and majestic oaks on James Island, just 10 minutes from downtown Charleston.

Our Physical Therapist Assistant implements the plan of care as established by the Physical Therapist and Physician in a professional, competent manner, upholding excellence with quality care.

A Typical Day:

  • Screen all residents in facility on a quarterly basis, to identify those who have experienced declines in their functional abilities and determine if Physical Therapy intervention is indicated.
  • Carry out and identify need for modification of treatment program according to plan of care in consultation with Registered Physical Therapist
  • Monitor and report resident performance and progress.
  • Assist Registered Physical Therapist in re-assessment of patients. Assist in determining need for continued services or discontinuation of services based on patient progress.
  • Assist Registered Physical Therapist in discharge planning.
  • Educate staff, family and care givers as indicated.
  • Complete all required documentation according to guidelines specified in Documentation Manual.
  • Coordinate in-services for facility staff as need is determined, to ensure safe and effective carry over of Maintenance/Restorative Programs and overall call of the residents.
  • Attend all facility required meetings.
  • Attend Continuing Education courses specific to current position.

Requirements

What We Need In A Candidate:

  • Associate Degree from an accredited Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant program required
  • Must meet all certification and licensure requirements as established by the state and national board associations.
  • Familiarity with Rehab Optima, Ultipro, Healthcare Source, MedBridge, PlanSource, RightTrack, PCC and other computer software programs.
  • Active South Carolina license required.
  • Active CPR certification
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, reach, and lift (up to 50 pounds /-).
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, required assessment abilities, and clinical skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written with the residents, families, visitors and Bishop Gadsden employees.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
