Job summary

STAR Physical Therapy in Tennessee is seeking a Part-time Physical Therapist Assistant to support licensed Physical Therapists. You will assist with patient care, document progress, and educate patients on at-home exercises and devices.

The role emphasizes autonomous work, collaboration with a clinical team, and ongoing professional development within a supportive mentorship environment.

Qualifications

• Must hold Tennessee PTA licensure and CPR certification.
• Graduate from a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
• New graduates welcome to apply.
• Current Tennessee PTA license.
• Ability to work independently in an autonomous environment.
• Proficiency with basic PC skills including EMR, databases, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Perform therapeutic interventions under supervision of a Physical Therapist (thermotherapy, exercises, gait training, neuromuscular re-education, manual therapy, ADL training, wound care).
• Document patient progress and treatment response in medical charts.
• Communicate patient status to physicians and healthcare staff; monitor ROM, strength, and vitals as needed.
• Instruct patients and families on assistive devices and home exercise programs.
• Support PTAs and technicians; participate in quality assurance activities.

• Assist in quality assurance programs as directed by the Physical Therapist.
• Ensure technical proficiency in physical therapy principles, concepts, and techniques.
• Must have certification and licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Tennessee
• Graduate from a CAPTE accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program
• New or recent graduates are encouraged to apply
• Current state of Tennessee Physical Therapist Assistant license
• CPR certification
• Ability to work efficiently/effectively in an autonomous environment
• Basic PC skills and knowledge, including but not limited to Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, database software, and MS Office
