Job summary

MorseLife Health System is seeking a qualified Physical Therapist Assistant to implement patient therapy plans under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. The role supports interdisciplinary teams and requires an active Florida PTA license.

Responsibilities include executing prescribed exercises, educating patients and families, documenting progress, and assisting in discharge planning. A valid Florida driver's license and reliable transportation are needed, with a flexible schedule for home

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved PTA program and Florida licensure.
  • 2 years' experience with frail and elderly preferred.
  • Valid FL driver's license and auto insurance in FL.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the patient therapy plan under the supervision of the Physical Therapist.
  • Perform routine strengthening and therapeutic exercises as directed.
  • Teach exercise programs to patients and families.
  • Submit daily notes and report findings in written form.
  • Record observations in the patient record and communicate with the care team.
  • Participate in discharge planning and complete discharge documentation.

Position Summary

The Physical Therapist Assistant will implement an individual patient therapy care plan that has been prepared by the Physical Therapist and work under the supervision of the Physical Therapist. Reporting to the Supervisor, Rehab Services, your essential responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Perform routine strengthening exercises and therapeutic exercises as outlined by the lead PT
  • Assist in teaching exercise programs to patient and family
  • Consult with therapist regarding the outcome of home visits and report findings in written forms
  • Submit written daily notes as required
  • Observe and record activities and findings in the record
  • Instruct other health team personnel and family members in certain aspects of physical therapy with which they work with the client
  • Participate with staff, client and physician in discharge activities and assists in completing the discharge summary
  • Communicate effectively with all those providing care
  • Performs other job duties as assigned
What You’ll Bring

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Licensed in the state of Florida.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance in the State of Florida.
  • 2 years' experience with a minimum of one year experience with the frail and elderly.
  • Reliable transportation to meet visit schedule.
  • Ability to use equipment with visual and auditory mechanisms.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English.
  • Flexible schedule to meet the needs of participants.
  • Ability to physically access any home i.e. navigate stairs and narrow spaces, tolerate heat and lack of air conditioning, in any area Company serves.
  • Ability to manage stress.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions and physical requirements (including, but not limited to: lifting participants and/or equipment, bending, pushing/pulling, kneeling) of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • The Physical Therapy Assistant shall be a graduate of an approved school giving a course of not less than two (2) Years for Physical Therapy Assistants and be currently licensed in the State of Florida as a Physical Therapy Assistant..
