Job description

Physical Therapist Assistant, Outpatient - Full-Time 40 hours

Spaulding Rehabilitation - Pawtucket, RI

Provide physical therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to patients with impairments, functional limitations, or disabilities resulting from injury, disease, or other causes. Collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary team. Educate patients, families, and others as directed by the Physical Therapist. Coordinate technical, environmental, and financial resources effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Carrying out prescribed treatment programs under supervision, according to organizational and professional guidelines.
  2. Modifying measurement skills based on patients' age, medical condition, and cultural background.
  3. Communicating patient progress and overall status with the physical therapist to adjust goals, treatment plans, procedures, and discharge or equipment needs.
  4. Completing documentation promptly and in accordance with facility and practice guidelines.
  5. Orienting, training, and mentoring therapy and healthcare students to meet performance expectations.
  6. Participating in additional departmental, organizational, or network activities as per established objectives.
  7. Upholding the organizational values of Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Licensed (and in good standing) as a physical therapist assistant in Rhode Island.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Basic skills in math and computer science.
  • Knowledge of physical therapy techniques appropriate for the rehabilitation population.
  • Problem-solving skills for treatment planning and execution considering patient's age, psychosocial, cultural, and religious background.
  • Ability to teach and self-assess learning needs, strengths, and goals.
  • Ability to safely perform job responsibilities without risking injury.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, preferably Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn new software.
  • Flexibility to work variable schedules, including evenings, holidays, weekends, and travel.
Preferred Skills:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work independently, be self-directed, and contribute to a team.
  • Proactive in addressing challenges with strategic planning.
  • High level of service orientation, initiative, and adaptability.
