Qualifications

• Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (State Board) with licensure to practice.
• New graduates welcome; position suitable for both new and experienced PTAs.
• Part-time role with potential to convert to full-time between Folsom and Rancho Cordova clinics.
• Available Mondays and Wednesdays in Rancho Cordova; additional weekdays possible at Natomas or Folsom clinics.

Responsibilities

• Take direction from the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Assist in evaluation and treatment to relieve pain and restore function.
• Aid patients in active and passive exercises, gait and daily living activities.
• Operate and apply modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and massage per plan.
• Record patient progress and communicate changes to the supervising therapist.

Burger Physical Therapy has provided therapy services since 1978.

Due to growth and expanding therapy needs, we seek an exceptional and experienced State Board LicensedPhysical Therapist Assistant to join our Burger Rancho Cordova Outpatient team. This is a part-time position, which could easily be full-time between Folsom and Rancho Cordova Clinics, and is conveniently located in Rancho Cordova, and this position is appropriate for a new graduate or seasoned PTA! The scheduled hours are Mondays/Wednesdays in Rancho Cordova and additional weekdays in Natomas or Folsom Clinics.

A Physical Therapist Assistant assists the physical therapist in the evaluation and treatment of patients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Take direction from the Registered Physical Therapist.
2. Under physician’s orders, treat patients to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain an optimal performance using such physical means as heat, water, electricity, light, massage, etc.
3. Aid and direct patients in active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait and functional training, activities of daily living and prosthetic training.
4. Give whirlpool and contrast baths, apply moist heat.
5. Apply intermittent traction, ultra-sound, short wave diathermy, etc.
6. Instruct patients in the care and use of wheelchairs, walkers, braces, canes, crutches and prosthetic and orthotic devices.
7. Observe, record and report patient’s reaction to treatment and any changes in the patient’s condition.
8. Serve as a member of the patient care team.
9. Record a progress note in the patient’s medical record for each visit whether out-patient, home or convalescent hospital patient.
10. The Physical Therapy Assistant is at all times under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist in compliance with Statute laws and regulations, and Burger policies and procedures. The Physical Therapy Assistant shall at no time perform evaluations or change a patient’s treatment program. These activities will be referred to the supervising therapist.
11. The Physical Therapy Assistant also participates in educational programs to improve his/her therapy skills.
