Job summary

Lexington Medical Center in Lexington, NC seeks a certified Physical Therapy Assistant to implement therapy plans under the direction of a PT, assisting with exercises, gait training and activities of daily living to support patient recovery.

Responsibilities include collecting outcome data, assisting with tests and evaluations, maintaining equipment, supporting research and education materials, and participating in team meetings and in-service trainings.

Qualifications

• Completion of a two-year PTA program approved by the APTA.
• Current licensure in the practicing state.
• CPR certification updated every two years.

Responsibilities

• Carry out physical therapy programs as planned and directed by the physical therapist in clinical and research settings.
• Train patients in exercises, ambulation, and activities of daily living.
• Collect clinical assessment scores, radiographic scores and health-related quality of life data.
• Perform a wide range of tests and evaluations in clinical or research settings.
• Evaluate developmental levels and functions, motor skills, reflexes, balance, coordination, and daily living activities.
• Screen for orthopedic and physical defects, genetic anomalies, or idiopathic conditions.
• Maintain supplies and equipment.
• Assist with research protocols and treatment development; ensure data quality control.
• Develop and write educational materials.
• Participate in staff meetings, forums, committees, and in-service training activities.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

• Current license in the State of applicable state to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
• CPR certification every two years.

What You'll Do:

• Carries out physical therapy programs as planned and directed by the physical therapist in clinical and research applications.
• This involves training patients in exercises, ambulation, and activities of daily living.
• Collects clinical assessment scores, radiographic scores and assessments, and health related quality of life information.
• Performs a wide range of tests and evaluations in a clinical or research setting.
• This involves evaluation of developmental levels and functions, gross and fine motor skills, neurological-reflex testing, equilibrium, coordination, protective responses, muscle strength, muscle tone, joint range of motion, daily living skills and activities, and perceptual motor skills and defects.
• Screens for orthopedic and physical defects, genetic anomalies, or idiopathic.
• Maintains supplies and equipment.
• Assists with research protocol and treatment development; ensures quality control of data.
• Develops and writes educational materials.
• Participates in staff meetings, forums, committees, and in-service training activities.
• Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
