Job summary

Adventist Health in Hawaii is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant to provide treatments under licensed PT supervision, using modalities, manual techniques and common exercises. You will guide patients through bed mobility, transfers, gait and balance activities, and may mentor staff on technical skills.

Qualifications include PTA licensure in appropriate states, CPR/BLS, a valid driver’s license and be 21+. Education requirements: high school/GED; an associate’s/technical degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent is required.
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience is preferred.
• Two years' technical experience preferred; therapy in acute care/outpatient settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs physical therapy treatments with modalities, manual techniques and exercises.
• Instructs patients in bed mobility, transfers, gait and balance activities.
• Observes treatment precautions and communicates changes to therapists and nurses.
• Provides daily chart documentation and education to patients and caregivers.
• May mentor and train staff on technical skills.

Essential Functions:

Performs physical therapy treatments, including the use of modalities, manual techniques and common exercise techniques. Instructs and guides patients through functional activities, such as bed mobility, transfers and gait and balance activities.Observes and follows treatment precautions as identified by physical therapists, nurses or physicians. Observes for changes in patient responses and reports changes to nurses and physical therapists in charge.Provides daily and timely patient chart documentation of interventions and services provided in the acute care setting. Documents employee and out patient treatments, as necessary.Provides education and training to patients and caregivers, while incorporating learning style preferences. Assesses education and training responses.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
