Responsibilities as a Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant

• Administer the physical therapy treatment plan as developed by the Physical Therapist.
• Perform non-complex therapeutic exercises, massage, traction, heat, cold, water, and electrical modalities.
• Document client records accurately and submit clinical paperwork on time.
• Attend educational meetings and contribute to department in-services.
• Report equipment failures, supply shortages, and other departmental issues.
• Schedule clients and perform office tasks as needed.
• Follow infection control and universal precautions.
• Accept clinical assignments suitable to your education and competence.
• Promote compliance with payors through education and coaching.

Minimum Requirements and Skills

• Associate degree in Physical Therapy from an APTA-accredited program.
• Current state license to practice Physical Therapy.
• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, reliable transportation.
• Proof of current CPR certification.
• Minimum two years of experience as a PTA.
• Knowledge of geriatric population changes.
• Self-motivated, receptive to feedback, organized, and professional.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Meet continuing education requirements and maintain licensure.
• Flexible schedule and ability to travel locally.
• Fluent in English and good attendance.

Pay and Benefits

Pay ranges from $37.00 to $52.00 per visit/unit or $58,400 to $80,000 annually, based on full-time employment.
