Job Description:

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program at Onondaga Community College invites applications for the adjunct clinical instructor position. Responsibilities include instruction and evaluation for lecture and lab courses within the Physical Therapy Assistant program as well as accompanying students during clinical rotation to local healthcare organizations:

  • Prepare and present lectures.
  • Meet with students as needed to answer questions.
  • Respond to student queries (e.g., email or voice mail) as needed, in a reasonably timely manner.
  • Write, administer, and grade all student assignments and exams.
  • Compute grades and submit them on time.

Clinical assignments for fall 2024 are on Tuesdays or Thursdays during the day.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree in Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • Active, unrestricted Physical Therapy License/Registration in New York State.
  • Minimum of three years of full-time post-licensure clinical experience in physical therapy.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctorate in Physical Therapy preferred.
  • Experience as a Clinical Instructor in physical therapy.
  • APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor.
  • Didactic teaching experience at the college level in an accredited physical therapist assistant program.
  • Evidence of contemporary expertise in one or more physical therapy topics: Pediatrics, Neurology, Orthopedics, Geriatrics, Modalities.
  • Evidence of computer-based skills to complement and enhance teaching, assessment, and accreditation processes.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to function as an effective team member within a collaborative work environment.
  • Excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish or English and another language.

Additional Information:

Candidates must comply with current Department of Health regulations for vaccinations/immunizations for acute and long-term care facilities.

Employee will have the opportunity to join the NYS Retirement System. Current rate of pay is $43.71/hour or $60.51/hour depending on credentials. This is the 2023/24 rate; the 2024/25 rate is not yet available.
