Physical Therapist Assistant, Casual (Erie)

Provides physical therapy treatment in accordance with the plan of care established by the physical therapist. Recommends changes in treatment plan to the supervising physical therapist based on the patient's condition and response to treatment. Maintains a neat and organized work area. Directs therapy volunteers and performs clerical responsibilities as required by the facility. Transports patients safely, comfortably, courteously, timely, and professionally using prescribed transport vehicles.

Responsibilities:
  1. Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, staff development, departmental committees, and in-service education programs.
  2. Utilize and supervise clinical support staff in accordance with the Physical Therapy Practice Act of the practicing state.
  3. Complete charge and statistical information accurately reflecting services provided to patients.
  4. Provide comprehensive and skillful therapeutic interventions based on treatment plans developed by a physical therapist for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients within the scope of practice.
  5. Assist physical therapists in surveying patients across all age groups within the scope of practice.
  6. Maintain documentation that meets or exceeds organizational standards, including changes in patient status, cancellations, and treatments administered, ensuring co-signature per guidelines.
  7. Rotate through treatment areas or facilities as needed to support organizational needs.
  8. Provide objective feedback to supervisors regarding department performance and emergency situations.
  9. Schedule and maintain a productivity level that meets or exceeds organizational standards.
  10. Implement treatment programs within the plan of care, recognizing and communicating any necessary alterations to the physical therapist.
  11. Apply current scientific and clinical knowledge to effectively achieve treatment goals.
  12. Graduate from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program with an associate's degree.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • CPR required within 30 days of hire, based on AHA standards, including both didactic and skills demonstration components.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
  • Physical Therapist Assistant license or supervision as per state regulations.
