Job summary

Hannibal Central School District seeks a Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant to support student treatments under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. You will use physical agents, approved exercises and stretching to assist in student care, while maintaining a safe and supportive environment.

Applicants should hold NYS PTA licensure, have strong time management and communication skills, and be able to work independently.

Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, assists with the treatment of students through the use of physical agents, appropriate exercise, stretching, or other therapeutic techniques.
2. Communicates therapeutic procedures to parents, physician (with consent), teachers, and other staff members.
3. Attends meetings and conferences with other staff members in order to convey and receive information concerning student care.
4. Participates in in-services.
5. Records student status, therapeutic interventions recommended, and progress noted through proper note writing.
6. Provides a safe, supervised, nurturing environment to the students we serve.
7. Completes all required documentation and paperwork in a thorough and timely manner.
8. All other duties pertaining to this position as assigned by the district.

Qualifications

• Current NYS Certified Physical Therapy Assistant licensure/certification required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred, however, new graduatesare encouraged to apply.
• Skills: Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and demonstrate strong clinical reasoning skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred applicants will have experience working with special education students in an education setting. Candidates with relevant experience in pediatricsand acute rehabilitation settings are encouraged to apply.

This role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and kneeling. The PTA must be able to lift and transfer patients and equipment, which may require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
