Job summary

St. Luke’s Health - The Woodlands Hospital is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant to help patients rebuild or maintain physical wellbeing, reduce pain, and improve quality of life through individualized plans of care.

You will administer therapeutic exercises and modalities, instruct patients in mobility and daily activities, monitor responses, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure timely, patient‑centered care.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree and TX licensure eligibility.
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) required within 14 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Administers therapeutic exercises and physical therapy modalities according to the physical therapy plan of care.
  • Instructs, motivates and assists patients to learn and improve functional activity, such as pre‑ambulation, transfer, ambulation and activities of daily living.
  • Observes patients during treatments, assesses and reports progress to the physical therapist; communicates updates to physicians as needed.
  • Fits patients for, adjusts, and trains patients in the use of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and assistive devices (crutches, canes, walkers, wheelchairs).
  • May perform clerical duties.
  • Promotes and supports positive and professional customer service, collaborating with team to meet patient needs and involve families in goal setting.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Physical Therapist Assistant, you will help patients rebuild or maintain their physical wellbeing so they can function at their best level, reduce pain, and improve their quality of life.

Every day you will provide a variety of direct treatments within the individualized plans of care.

To be successful in this role, you must possess strong age-appropriate competency skills, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative, patient-centered approach to care.

  • Administers therapeutic exercises and physical therapy modalities according to the physical therapy plan of care

  • Instructs, motivates and Assists patients to learn and improve functional activity, such as pre‐ambulation, transfer, ambulation and daily living activities

  • Observes patients during treatments, Assesses, and compiles data on patients’ responses to treatments and progress and reports verbally or in writing to the physical therapist; may communicate updates to physicians

  • Fit patients for, adjusts, and trains patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, walkers and wheelchairs

  • May perform clerical duties

  • Promotes and Supports positive and professional customer service, while interacting with clients, guests and hospital personnel. Works collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary team, other departments and disciplines to assure patients and customer’s needs are met in a timely manner. Encourages the active participation of the patient and/or family in goal setting and patient/family training/education

  • Associates Other Physical Therapist Assistants and Graduates eligible for licensure will be considered, upon hire

Pay Range

$27.43 - $40.80 /hour
