Job summary

Nans Pointe Rehabilitation and Nursing is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our resident-centered team in Suffolk, VA. The PTA provides physical therapy treatments under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist to improve patient independence and functioning.

You will collaborate with the rehabilitation team, implement individualized plans, and educate patients and caregivers on exercises and techniques.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PTA program approved by APTA.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Implements patient’s individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Physical Therapist.
• Work with other rehabilitation staff to implement programs based on patient needs and capabilities.
• Acts as an assistant to the Physical Therapist during tests, evaluations, and complex procedures.
• Instructs patients, families and caregivers in PT techniques under supervision.

The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for providing physical therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Implements patient’s individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Physical Therapist
• Work with other members of the rehabilitation team to implement programs consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient
• Acts as an assistant to the Physical Therapist when the Physical Therapist is performing tests, evaluations and complex procedures
• Instructs patients, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the physical therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Physical Therapist

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program certified by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
• Must be licensed and/or eligible for licensure as required by the state of practice
• Requires good organizational and time management skills
• Requires good verbal and written communication skills
