Job summary

Nans Pointe Rehabilitation and Nursing is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our family of skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in Suffolk, VA. The PTA will provide PT treatments to help patients increase independence under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program certified by the APTA.
• Licensed and/or eligible for licensure as required by the state of practice.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide physical therapy treatments to facilitate independence and functioning under supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.
• Collaborate with rehabilitation team to implement individualized treatment programs.
• Assist the Physical Therapist during tests, evaluations, and complex procedures.
• Instruct patients, families and caregivers in PT techniques under supervision of the Physical Therapist.

The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for providing physical therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Implements patient’s individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Physical Therapist
• Work with other members of the rehabilitation team to implement programs consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient
• Acts as an assistant to the Physical Therapist when the Physical Therapist is performing tests, evaluations and complex procedures
• Instructs patients, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the physical therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Physical Therapist

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program certified by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
• Must be licensed and/or eligible for licensure as required by the state of practice
• Requires good organizational and time management skills
• Requires good verbal and written communication skills
